Back to First part of the walking tour through Milan from the Sforza Castle to the Dome Square
At the left side of the Dome Cathedral there is the imposing department store La Rinascente. From the snack bar on the 8th floor you can enjoy the view to the cathedral Duomo consuming a strong Italian espresso coffee.
From the Dome Square starts the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II. It connects the Cathedral's Square with the La Scala Square Piazza della Scala.
Built in 1877, the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II is Milan's elegant lounge with luxury boutiques and restaurants. The roof of the gallery forms a cross that is well visible from the cathedral's roof.
In the centre of the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II the charming mosaic floor with the aspect of a carpet shows in the center the symbol of the Savoia Royal Family.
The 4 symbols in every part on the floor represent the capitals of the Kingdom of Italy in various periods: Milan, Turin, Florence and Rome.

The top of the central octagon demonstrate the four continents Africa, Asia, Europe and America.
The 24 statues in the Gallery represent Italian important personalities, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Alessandro Volta a.o.m. he main entries of the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II are have the form of triumphal arches.
Passing the Gallery Vittorio Emanuele II you reach the Scala Square Piazza della Scala with the Leonardo da Vinci's monument in the square's center.
In front of the La Scala Theater you see Palazzo Marino, head office of the mayor as well as the Ministry of Justice.
Walking straight on in Via Alessandro Manzoni you pass the museum Poldi Pezzoli, a private Art collection in an home-exhibition. Turning on the right After 300 m you get to the Fashion District of Milan between via Montenapoleone, via Sant’Andrea and via della Spiga.
Turning back to Via Manzoni and passing via Monte di Pietà you reach now the Brera area.
Go beyond Via Verdi and Via Brera you pass at the right side the Pinacoteca di Brera. In the Brera Art Gallery you find paintings and artworks of the XV to XVIII century.

After the Brera Art Gallery turning to the left in Via Fiori Chiari you get into the heart of the Brera district with nice bars and restaurants. On week ends and in the evening you find here an opulent street life.
Passing the Brera quarter at Via Mercato, Via Tivoli and Via Lanza you find here the nice Piccolo Theater Strehler.
A few meters later you get to the Sforza Castle again where you will have merit a break in the Castel’s Garden Sempione.
