Every year in September the Italian Grand Prix (Gran Premio d'Italia) of the Formula 1 takes place in the Park in Monza.

The Grand Prix of Italy is one of the most traditionally and spectacular events on the motor racing calendar. The course of Monza was built in 1922 and since 1950 Formula One championship races has been taken place on the circuit of Monza.

The circuit of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza is a demanding course. With it's length of 5.793 km the pilots have to circular the course for 53 laps (Total kilometres = 307,029 km).

Ferrari is one of the most successful Italian car constructor and racing teams. With its excellent pilot Michael Schumacher Ferrari could win the Italian Grand Prix in 5 races from 1996 until 2006.

The Autodromo Nazionale of Monza is located in the Parco di Monza, Via Vedano 5. You reach the course by car from Monza in direction Biassono / Lesmo / Vedano al Lambro.

Monza is a city of 122.000 inhabitants in the Northern of Milan. In the historic center of Monza is the cathedral with the impressive two-marble facade. The cathedral of Monza was built on the ruins of the ancient "Oracolum".

In the museum of the cathedral you can visit the Golden Crown Ferrea, a appreciated diadem from the Late Roman period.

The Park of Monza and Villa Reale

The park of the Villa Reale with golf and polo grounds and a gallop racecourse is a popular week-end target of the Milanesi.

At the entrance of the 40 hectare park in the English and Italian style impresses the Villa Reale. The palace Villa Reale was built in 1777 by Maria Teresa of Austria to donate the villa to their son Ferdinand von Habsburg and his wife, Beatrice Ricciarda d'Este as a summer residence.
